Bergstrom-Mahler Museum has the distinction of being accredited by the American Association of Museums (AAM). The honor of accreditation means Bergstrom-Mahler Museum meets the rigorous standards of professionalism and best practices for museums set forth by AAM.

The museum is also an active member of Wisconsin Federation of Museums. Wisconsin Federation of Museums Membership is open to all museums professionals, volunteers, and those interested in pursuing a career in museums. WFM Member Institutions often participate in regional and statewide activities, such as the annual meeting, roundtables, workshops and lectures and promote museums throughout Wisconsin.
