Chinese Brush with Silk Painting |

This class will give immediate sucess in applying Chinese Brush techniques to silk for a bamboo-inspired WEARABLE piece of art. Instructor, Sandra Melroy provides all materials to complete a 60" silk scarf in this fun and easy class. Come, enjoy, and bring a friend for a fun morning out! Sandra Melroy learned the art of Silk Painting while living in England, and draws inspiration from nature’s flowers and foliage. She teaches silk-painting classes throughout the Fox Valley region. $30--includes supplies Maximum 15 students |

Chinese Traditional Painting on Rice Paper |

This workshop will teach Chinese painting technique based on the Xieyi School. The Xieyi school is marked exaggerated forms, freehand brushwork and the fundamental approach to Chinese painting. Li Hu is a professor of art at University of Wisconsin Oshkosh and President of Oil Painters Society of Chinese American. He was trained in both Chinese traditional painting and oil painting in China and United States. $60- includes box lunch & supplies Minmum 6 students, Maximum 15 students.

Book Making: Chinese Side-Stitch |

Join artist Benjamin D. Rinehart and learn to make a special book using traditional binding methods and materials native to China. This simple and attractive side-sewn binding has been passed down for generations. Come and explore bookbinding techniques of folding, sewing, cutting and covering. Even if you have made books before, you are “bound” to pick up a few new tricks. A great class for all levels! Benjamin Rinehart is an Assistant Professor of Art and Art History at Lawrence University. He is a multi-media artist whose main focus is in drawing, painting, printmaking, and artist’s books. $75–includes materials & box lunch Minimum 4 students. Maximum 15 students.

Introduction to Glass Beadmaking (Lampworking) |

10 am–1 pm ADULTS (16 and up)
Basic bead making techniques will be covered in this 3 hour, introductory class. Learn about safe and proper handling of equipment, tools and materials as well as developing good shapes, pulling stringer and applying surface decoration. By the end of class you will have created several of your own glass beads. Beth Wenger Johnstone creates one-of-a-kind lampwork glass beads and wire work which she incorporates into wearable art and ornaments. She works primarily in silver and glass and occasionally works with copper and pearls. $60 – includes supplies Minimum 3 students. Maximum 9 students.
